DEBATE

Debate - Future of AAP after internal bickerings ?

Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP's) recent mammoth victory in Delhi was a super-landslide (the winning party securing 90 percent or more seats). Even the Congress which had the natural advantage of leading the freedom struggle successfully and had stalwarts like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru and Indira Gandhi could never achieve it in any general election despite dominating the political scene in the country post independence. The rise of the Aam Aadmi Party indicated that people once again saw politics as an act of faith and hope but given the bickerings among its leaders in too a short span, the question that now arises is that What is the future of AAP ?

Imaginary meeting with Rahul

Back in Singapore for some work and now taking flight back home. At Changi I am looking around for chocolates when I run into Rahul with two boxes of Mackintosh Chocolates and a unwrapped half eaten Hershey chocolate ... he sees me...

Rahul: You still here...have you been following me ????
Me: No way .... just came back for work ... and am going back.... are you returning to India too???
Rahul: None of your damn business .....
Me: Which means...no.... last time we met you told me you were attending improvement courses and meeting consultants
Rahul: Finished with all that... I am now going on a holiday to Greece.... crap... no no to a ....
Me: HOLIDAY..... there your Mom is working hard to redeem Congress's image and you are going on a holiday.... there is a lot of speculation in India regarding your not returning ...
Rahul: What are they saying???

Me: Some say your Sis is taking over ...
Rahul: My Sis adores me.... here listen to her caller tune on her phone ... its Bhaiya morre rakhi ke bandan ko nibhaana < he dials her number and puts mobile on speaker ... the tune is.....Na Biwi na bachche na Baap badaa na Bhaiya .... he makes a sour face) ... wrong number.....
Me: Maybe by mistake you dialled Jeeja ji's number. Some say you have fought with your Mom and now she is teaching you a lesson by taking an active role in running the Party and sending you message... I can do without you
Rahul: < Something snaps in him... angrily> She wants me to head the Party on her terms ... that is not possible ....
Me: But what do you want.....
Rahul: In the age of KPMG and Earnst & Young she wants me to use Godbole and Company ....she wants me to retain all her old foggies as my advisors
Me: Maybe she feels experience will come to your aid .....
Rahul: Can't she see what her advisors have done to Congress ....she needs to smell the coffee
Me: What else does she want ...
Rahul: She wants me go get married. .. give up playing games on my mobile and become 24x7 politician
Mr: So what is wrong with these demands. ..
Rahul: Get a life man..... I am still young .....maybe in another 10 years....and the games tone up my reflexes.... 24x7 Politician ... bah... not my cup of tea
Me: You will be 50+ in 10 years...over the hill for marriage ... if you have a kid ..by the time kid becomes 20 you would be 70+ ..... and she wants you to stop using your fingers on mobike phone games and start using your brains ... and pray what is your cup of tea????
Rahul: I wanna be a CEO. .. 9 to 5.... weekends off ....
Me: Have you heard of how Modi ji works .... he has dedicated his life to the Nation
Rahul: Sorry I am too young to do this ... I want time off... I want to travel... I want my gizmos ...maybe when I am 60 plus I could think of dedicating my life for the Nation
Me: Modi ji started it when he was very young.m..so it's an impasse .... so what now????
Rahul: I am going to chill out in Greece .... eat healthy Mediterranean food ....
Me: Won't you contemplate
Rahul: My advisors are doing that ....as it is now I hear Mum has agreed to most of my demands
Me: Yes I think she knows chances of Congress's revival ......even if you put in your best are zero .... so at least keep you near her......so announce it.. what is the delay. ..
Rahul: I have to wait for a signal....
Me: Who is higher than Sonia ......
Rahul: Mom often tells me God speaks to us via the Church.....
Me: So you are waiting for an Order from the Church.... this can be construed differently .... that Church is Congress's High Command
Rahul: Why am I talking to you.... shoo
Me: Bye and God speed

DEBATE (1): Future of AAP after internal bickering ?

Discontentment had been simmering in AAP for quite a while. The situation reached the flash point after oath-taking by the party's supremo as Delhi's CM. He stood exposed as a hardcore, self-seeking politician. The tone and tenor of his speeches prove it beyond reasonable doubt. Belligerence, aggression, arrogance and over-ambition of the AAP supremo negates democratic functioning. Assured of a 5 year tenure with brute majority, Kejriwal, it seems. has put his anti-corruption agenda and promise of Good governance on the backburner. AAP's euphoria over landslide victory is over. Ouster of senior members, considered saner and mature voices has taken the sheen out of AAP. They will be expelled before they could assume the role of conscientious dissenters within the party. They would not take their insults lying down. Support for the rebels is gaining momentum and the slanging match will continue.
Against this backdrop, AAP's political stability would depend on its delivery mechanism. The public will not be carried away by its dharna approach. It would seek fulfillment of poll promises : Water/ power at subsidized rates and a corruption-free administration. Un-achievable in the given situation. Confrontation with the Centre is inescapable. The fledgling AAP acquiring national status ? No way. It will remain a regional uni-centric party. A vertical split seems imminent.
Sadly, the future looks so bleak for the Aam Aadmi.

Functioning of CGHS can be improved

Some innovative mechanism can surely improve functioning of CGHS. There have also been isolated good examples of CGHS functioning. More monitoring and surprise checks should help in its overall functioning. Ministry should provide additional resources and more autonomy to CMOs as a beginning.

No policy on extensions

Funny are the ways of the present Government in giving extensions to the favoured lot. There is no strict and definite policy. Those who kowtow to the Ministers are given extension and those who criticise are given marching orders. No Government is impartial and No Minister is neutral.

Information related to validity of HSC certificate

The appellant sought information regarding steps taken by DGCA to verify the HSC certificate of Capt Ajay Khadtale, the status of investigation to confirm its validity along with photocopies of relevant record. The PIO and FAA denied information taking shelter under section 8(1)(d) of the RTI Act. The respondent stated that the department was in constant touch with Secretary, Bihar School Education Board on this matter, however, the Board on more than one occasion have submitted contradictory replies due to which they could not take any action against Capt Khadtale. The Central Information Commission (CIC) directed the Public Information Officer (PIO) to provide a detailed reply to the appellant as to at what stage is the investigation pending, along with the communication with the Secretary, Bihar School Education Board, within two weeks from date of receipt of this order, under intimation to the Commission.

Comments

It is often seen that Public authorities avoid or delay investigation on complaints against their officers. This case law shows how RTI Act can be used to keep a check on the investigation carried out by the organisation.
