DEBATE (1) Retirement Age

With better healthcare facilities retirement age needs to be raised to 62 rather than reducing it to 58.

Vinod Sachdeva IFS(1987) Retired

DEBATE (2) Retirement Age

In this unemployment ridden country this step of reduction of lowering of the age for superannuation should be welcome and be implemented at the earliest.

DEBATE (3) Retirement Age

Making retirement age 58 from 60 is very pragmatic idea in view of slowing down of performance and service oriented mindset. Instead of opinion on this count a silent survey would reveal as to how people in government come to yawn and bother about their kids, family issues, retirement plans and related issues than being sincere to their responsibilities. I have seen youngsters clouded by fears of future deliver the services single minded and and most professional ways. Govt. offices are more often taken as leisure hubs yet assured lucrative pastime. Let the Govt. decide to bring in youngsters by reducing retirement age to 58.

Government should ponder over this

Government (State & Central) should ponder over this, have discussions at all levels talking into consideration the social level at the time of appointment , present & future of the employees and then should arrive at a decision. It should not be at the whims and fancies of who so ever government takes charge. When kitty is empty granting extension while voter mood is in favour going for the reverse send wrong signals to the public at large.

Providing certified copies of documents inspected by a citizen

The appellant sought copies of file opening register for different sections of Central Information Commission (CIC), along with list of files for computerization in CIC and details of further improvement of the computer network in office and CIC website. PIO replied that File Opening Register of some of the divisions of the Commission have indicated that files are opened on yearly basis and requested the appellant to specify the year for which information is desired. The Legal Cell of CIC denied information u/s 8(1)(j). On appeal, the First Appellate Authority (FAA) directed the legal cell to provide an inspection of file opening register; but copies of the same were denied as it would indeed be an invasion of privacy. The appellant argued that denial of information was wrong as the name of parties and their addresses available in the file opening register were already in public domain and available on the Commission's website. When the matter came up before the CIC in second appeal against the order of its own FAA, the CIC directed the PIO to provide copies of file opening register from the Accounts Section. Further, the FAA was cautioned to pass orders after taking due cognizance of the provisions of the RTI Act.

Comments

The Section 76 of the Indian Evidence Act, 1872 provides that every public officer having custody of a public document, of which any person has a right to inspect, shall give that person on demand of a copy of it, on payment of legal fees together with his certificate with date, name and his official title, affixing his official seal, to be called as a certified copy. Therefore, certified copies of documents inspected by a citizen should not be denied after permitting inspection.
