Shourie's comments
Sant Kabir Das had said
"nindak niyare rãkhiye, ãngan kuti chhawãi;
binu pãni bin sabunã, nirmal kare subhãw".
That means keep your critic close to you; give him shelter in your courtyard.
Without soap and water he cleanses your character.
There is no need for the top echleons of BJP to worry but to treat it
as a lesson for them for improvement/corrections relating to the comments
of "Dr. Arun Shourie".

Gandhiji was also media conscious, and he learnt to respect the media
from Jawahar Lal Nehru.

Shame on Media that played spoilsport
India was the first to reach to the rescue of Nepal when earthquake
devastated the country on June 25. Our NDRF and armymen gave their all
in search of survivors and to help those out on the streets after having
lost their houses. Our Prime Minister showed genuine concern in extending
all help in reconstruction of the neighbouring country. But our media
spoilt it all by their insensitive reports and showing off the help
from India. So we were bracketed with other foreign countries and told
to pack off and leave Nepal. The other reason of course could be the
opposition of the leftists in Nepal who perhaps did not want the influence
of China to wane in the wake of remarkable rescue efforts made by India.
What a pity ? Political considerations and TRP ratings by our TV channels
resulted in People of Nepal being left in the lurch when they still
need lot of help to stand on their feet after this Himalyan tragedy.

5-star hotels
Good. Even the seniormost bureaucrat with an average service of 30+
years cannot afford to visit 5-star hotels frequently.

Failure of international roaming to
work
The appellant had taken international roaming facility from the
BSNL but found that the international service failed to work in
8 different countries. On return, he surrendered his instrument
and requested the BSNL to investigate why the service did not
work and when no reply was received for three months he wrote
to them for refunding the entire amount and also claiming token
compensation of Rs.1500/- for the harassment and inconvenience
caused to him. The Public Information Officer (PIO) informed that
there are rules for refund of principal amount within 60 days
from the date the service is surrendered but no rules have been
prescribed either for payment of interest or for compensation.
He informed that a cheque for Rs.4724/- in favour of the appellant
was issued. The CIC opined that such a callous and whimsical behaviour
on the part of the service provider who deals with the public
at large cannot be treated lightly. The CIC directed the PIO to
provide copy e-mail exchanged regarding the appellant's complaint
of his SIM not working and warned the PIO to exercise due care
for future.
Comments
The RTI Act is being used to address the
grievances related to the quality of services offered by the PSU's.
The PIO should be careful in replying in time and providing the
information as available on records.
