DEBATE (1)

Only IAS can set things right in RBI

Only an IAS officer having a vast knowledge of economic matters should be appointed RBI Governor. In a financial institution a person of administrative experience is required.

DEBATE (2)

Only a person who can promote on large scale entrepreneurship in India should be the next Governor of the RBI. Rajan has done nothing special about it even when the whole emphasis in the last 24 months has been on promoting entrepreneurship. Can any bank in India- private or public- boast of hand-holding a budding entrepreneur? Can any bank come forward to provide the necessary funds to an NRN or anyone of these young boys/girls making & shaking the market: Flipkart, Ola and hundred others. The answer in NO, an emphatic No. Why? Are they Mallyas or wilful defaulters? No, they are entrepreneurs, who possess highest educational qualifications and rich experience of working in corporations many of them MNCs. Visit any bank to experience the cold, tarkau attitude of the bankers. They are still working on phone calls. Why should they be not provided working capital and overdraft facility? The business today may not provide them inventory because the model is new, successful and profitable. At least the banks should advance OD immediately if the applicant has some asset equivalent to the limit sanctioned. Who can think innovative excepting the Governor RBI. I am familiar with the requirement of entrepreneur and assistance promised in the past with enormous infrastructure for Entrepreneurship Development & Training etc.and hence write about the ground realities.

IAS lobby grabs the cake

All the powers of the State are concentrated in Collectors who have at their disposal all the government funds. In the premises it is easy for them to hog the limelight with schemes. Officers of other cadres have equal achievements but the IAS lobby grab the cake. This is demoralising for other service officers.

Missing log book

The appellant sought a copy of log book of an office vehicle. It was denied claiming that the log book was missing and hence the copy could not be provided. The CIC noticed that the driver had claimed about loss of log book after RTI application was filed and no action was taken against the driver for the loss of log book. The Commission noticed that the Manager, HR had not taken any major initiative or effort to trace the log book and conveniently facilitated the transfer of the driver, who had happily escaped from any liability for the loss of log book. Holding that such an act indicated such suspicion that office did not want to disclose the log book, the CIC issued a show cause to the PIO why maximum penalty should not imposed against him for raising illegal defence of a missing log book. The CIC awarded a compensation of Rs. 5000/- to the appellant for denying information.

Comments

Whenever a document is missing, action needs to be initiated immediately to trace it out. A public record should be kept properly and responsibility should be fixed for any mislaid records.
