DEBATE (1)

Who should be RBI Governor ?

Rajan may be good at his work. But he doesn't make politically correct statements often. Be it against Make in India comment by PM that world cannot afford another China; recently about kingdom of blind etc. He better concentrate on his job.

DEBATE (2)

Only an economist who knows the subject should be appointed RBI Governor. Only an economist can revolutionise things in the country.

Dr Manoj Mathur

It's a welcome decision of the Govt, which was to be implemented much earlier for better functioning of CBDT. The minimum time period of at least one year is required to prove the efficiency and value added service offered by the Chairman, CBDT, being the apex body to administer the direct tax law of the country.

A Bandopadhyay

Appropriate observations

A K Saxena's observations on Delhi Govt Officers are very appropriate. As an independent observer I can say that this is out of frustration germinated as a result of making of tall promises and doing little on the ground. Secondly, he thinks that he is the boss and boss is always right. He should have the patience to take suggestions from one and all. Thirdly, appetite for publicity alone cannot work without doing some positive work. It has got negative impact because people are aware that it is their tax money which is being drained out for non -productive work. Fourthly, he cannot fulfill his poll promises without taking one and all with him rather than issuing threats to the backbone of the Govt. Lastly, he needs to refrain from critising and blaming all including BJP, Central Govt, PM, LG, Home Minister, Delhi Police, Municipal Corporations etc. because everyone cannot be wrong. Earlier we thought that he is unlike other politicians because he is bureaucrat turned politician and there should be some amount of discipline and truthfulness. My best wishes for Kejriwal to overcome with odd situation.

DATE WITH RTI

Missing log book

The appellant sought a copy of log book of an office vehicle. It was denied claiming that the log book was missing and hence the copy could not be provided. The CIC noticed that the driver had claimed about loss of log book after RTI application was filed and no action was taken against the driver for the loss of log book. The Commission noticed that the Manager, HR had not taken any major initiative or effort to trace the log book and conveniently facilitated the transfer of the driver, who had happily escaped from any liability for the loss of log book. Holding that such an act indicated such suspicion that office did not want to disclose the log book, the CIC issued a show cause to the PIO why maximum penalty should not imposed against him for raising illegal defence of a missing log book. The CIC awarded a compensation of Rs. 5000/- to the appellant for denying information.

Comments

Whenever a document is missing, action needs to be initiated immediately to trace it out. A public record should be kept properly and responsibility should be fixed for any mislaid records.
