POLITICS

This is History (237)
Was Napoleon one of the great ones of the earth,Man of Destiny,as he was called ,a mighty hero ?

Will RSS & VHP cause Modi's downfall ?

People say whenever it comes, RSS & VHP would be responsible for Narendra Modi's downfall as all good works done by him are being nullified by the hatred that is being spread by the former duo.

Baba Ramdev's cadre bigger than RSS ?
There is talk in political circles that network of distributors and stockists of Patanjali in the country has become so huge that Baba Ramdev's cadre is now assumed to be bigger than that of RSS. Is it a fact ?.

Is NIA’s Dy SP’s killing linked to Punjab’s unholy nexus ?

In unholy nexus between a section of politicians across party lines, bureaucrats, police and drug mafia in Punjab linke4d to the killing of the National Investigation Agency’s Deputy SP, Mohammed Tanzil, who was shot dead by two unidentified motorbike-borne assailants near Sahaspur town in Bijnor district of Uttar Pradesh late Saturday, while he was returning from his native place after attending his niece’s wedding along with his family.

Durgand ke liye surgand....
I'm in Kolkata at the Iconic Flury's enjoying a Baked Beans on Toast and Coffee Breakfast with a friend who is a local.... and if I may say proverbial Local...very partisan... very volatile .....and very hungry..

Me: This Bridge looks hazardous even in photographs...

Friend: When it was conceptualised and projected it was projected like a God send by Commies ... who incidentally do not believe in God...

M: I've seen pics of residents being able to touch the lower portion of the bridge from their balconies ...

F: Chalo they'd have found ways to live with this had the bridge really solved problems....

M: Tell me who do you blame ...

F: They fight each other like Cats and Dogs ...but here both are responsible ...

M: But Bridge was not ordered by TMC....

F: But after they came to power ...what did they do... while giving 6 extensions did they check out the ground realities...why was the Contractor who was blacklisted allowed to continue ...and now I hear though there was no provision of Sub Contractor ... a Sub Contractor was allowed and this Sub Contractor allegedly is related to a TMC Leader ...

M: Rahul Gandhi came to express his solidarity with victims ..

F: In 15 minutes .... 2 minute noodle type solidarity ...what a joke ....he visited the Hospital and inconvenienced the patients....all for what .... votes... which if you ask me Congress will not get ...maybe could have lost votes.....don't forget in WB they are allying with Commies who are partly responsible for this Bridge ....

M: That's why they say Rahul's right hand does not know what the left one is doing ....

F: To me it seems he was coming here for electioneering and he took a detour to garner votes via a tragedy and ended up losing votes ...

M: What's this funny smell....

F: ( sheepishly)... New Perfume ....

M: Which one ....

F: It's a Samajwaadi Perfume ... Akhilesh Yadav has launched 4 Samaajwaadi perfumes ... you know my wife is from UP ...her brother came yesterday from UP and he brought the Perfumes and to please my wife I had to slosh on one of the perfume's....otherwise would not use the perfumes in the flush pot...

M: Samajwaadi Perfumes ...maybe Akhilesh has taken to heart the feeling that Samaajwaadi Party stinks of Nepotism ....its all within the family ...

F: And if he makes up with Laloo and accepts Laloo and his brood as extended family Samajwaadi Party Cabinet could be a totally family affair ... ha ha ...prices are again starting to rise...

M: I know .. I know ... fingers crossed hope the monsoon is good this time ..its never failed 3 years in a row...what India needs is a Green Revolution ...our dependency on imports for food grains is growing phenomenally ....

F: We need some out of the box thinking when it comes to agriculture .. improve productivity ....modernization of farming .....reduce the loss from farm to fork..

M: More Crop per drop needs to forcefully implemented.....what's your prognosis about the WB election......

F: Didi will win ....significantly lesser seats though...the anti incumbency beneficiary will be Commies .... Congress will flounder ..BJP will do better than is being expected.....

Gets wiser on foreign policy
The recent visit of the JIT to spell out role of Pakistanis elements in the dastardly attack on Pathankot Airport, very lucidly and unambiguously brings out the shift in the foreign policy, taking it back to the days of Vajpayee and Manmohan Singh. The regime seems to have seen through the perils of pompous talks, vain-glorious sloganeering, and flexing not very strong muscles to browbeat its sovereign neighbours. The shift has broken the myth of fear and danger of ISI, as its member was present at Pathankot without bringing any harm. The government also needs to act with same maturity while dealing with centuries old friends like Nepal. The NIA team will now go to Pakistan to find out the truth about Pathankot adventure of the so called Pak fringe elements. But why Dina Nagar episode has been wrapped in covers is still a mystery. Do we know everything about it ? The answer is in the negative, if the reporting about the rejection of request of NIA by the Punjab government, to it enquiring into the matter ,is true. Why should NIA abdicate its authority in favour of Punjab Government, when the shocking episode has explicit international ramifications, is a sad commentary on the working of NIA .The government needs to show same maturity at home front too to contain fringe elements, who keep the government busy in petty politicking and street quarrels ,If the nation is to move forward

Time to do a Bangladesh in Balochistan

Many Indians are not aware of the growing turmoil in Balochistan and grave human rights violations by the Pakistan army. The situation might reach the flashpoint, soon. Let me come straight to the point.
The recent meeting of Hurriyat leaders with Pakistani officials in Delhi must prompt India to re-visit its candy floss foreign policy towards Pakistan. Recall Sharm-el-Sheikh fiasco. The mention of Balochistan in the Joint Statement of the then PMs-- Dr Manmohan Singh and Yusuf Raza Gilani -- at Sharm El Sheikh in 2009, had created a huge furore in India and the same was interpreted as India's surrender to Pakistan. A serious blunder and utter foolhardiness on part of UPA government, it was. I have checked records. The BJP , as part of the Opposition, had in 2009, stoutly condemned UPA's stand. It is now BJP's turn to correct the perspective. Let India extend full support to the liberation of Balochistan. This would be a matching response to Pak's explicit support to the Hurriyat leaders.
The US, though sympathetic to Baloch cause, continues to extend financial assistance to Pakistan to counter the growing Chinese primacy in the region- through construction of Chinese assisted Gwadar port and the Makran highway project. But, this should not deter us.
The Balochistan Liberation Army, Lashkar-e-Balochistan and the Baloch Liberation United Front are the militant groups, ready to wage a full-scale war against Pakistan army. There is a long pending grievance against the Pakistan central government which is systematically suppressing development in Baluchistan to keep the poor Balochis under its thumb.
Against this background, the country has the right to know : What will be India's stand, in case, the Balochi separatists, on the analogy of Bangla Desh war, declare themselves independent from the clutches of Pakistan. Will India stand by Balochistan - militarily and diplomatically ? If yes, let India be ready for taking pro-active steps.

DATE WITH RTI

Copies of documents held after the completion of retention period

The appellant filed the RTI application seeking attested copies of external examination question papers of B. Arch. for a certain period, some answer sheets etc. The Respondent informed that according to rules of the University, the students are supposed to apply for copies of answer sheets, within 15 days from the date of declaration of the result. As per the University's retention policy, answer sheets are retained for three months, from the date of declaration of result. But, if the student fails to apply within the prescribed period of 15 days, the answer sheets cannot be given to the student, though the same are held by the public authority upto three months. The CIC ruled that the above retention policy of the University is not a correct practice. If they have retained the answer sheets, even after the prescribed retention period for any reason, they cannot deny if it is not destroyed as on the date of RTI application

Comments

No public authority can impose additional restrictions over and above those prescribed under Section 8 of the RTI Act to deny any information to the applicant. A Public Authority is expected to make its own record retention policy and provide information to any RTI applicant as per the same as long as the records are not weeded out. If the records have been retained even after the prescribed retention period, copies of the same cannot be denied if it is not destroyed as on the date of RTI application. Further, a Public Authority is required to hold the records, if an RTI application is pending before the authorities.
