Recruitment Exams in Floods

It is surprising that there is so much of hype on reservations in exams but no government pays any attention to the fact that holding large scale recruitment tests in August is a wholesome injustice to candidates from affected areas. UPSC held its Civil services prelims on 7th August when several parts of the country were badly affected by floods. CM of TN infact requested PM to postpone the prelims but nothing happened. Thousands of youngsters were denied opportunity due to rains. Now Rajasthan PSC is holding its RAS prelims on 28th August amidst heavy rains and when 6 districts are badly affected by rains. Are our Governments and Public Service Commissions so cut off from reality?

Strange !

It is very strange to note that PMO office is to deal with officers who are trying to bring influence in a situation when each and every officer. Is oblivious of the fact that the power centre is and who is skimming the milk in the process of postings PMO most of the times makes avoidable efforts to find out something which may not be existing at all because of the trust deficit and with the self style acclaim that Only PMO is wise.

This ministry is already famous for not soliciting aby illicit favours and that it only gives sermonisation without doing even the bonafide jobs The Govt should not forget that the socialization with the govt machinery is minimized whenever This NDA govt is voted to power.it is good in a way that undue favours cannot be drawn from this dispensation But yet the Govt should ensure that the departments are really geared up to deliver the things which are still at status quo what it used to be earlier
Previous regimes fell because of excessive abuse of powers leading to scams and rampant corruption was the buzzword but only honesty is also not the only attribute to serve the nation Let PMO involve people from private sector also who have actual exposure of tolerating at many times the ugly face and working of Govt and they can give more pliable solution to take care of society holistically and system cannot and should not be run by remaining alienated from the society particularly this style adopted by bureaucratic steel frame who are still submerged with the mindset of colonial period

Are BJP ruled states really corrupt ?

Sir, with ref to OP meena , "BJP ruled states corrupt" , its true. if grading is given you will be surprised to see that the BJP ruled states will be top rankers. the report on corruption index was made by the NGO here in rajasthan . they grade based on forced funding and harassment by politicians, delayed work by bureaucracy , deceiveing after being bribed for work, involvement of CMO , ministrys etc . Rajasthan tops in corruption, followed by MP, Followed by Chhatisgarh. However , nothing heard in Maharastra surprisingly in Haryana corruption in politicians is heard, but not to an extent that people would feel heat.

J P Meena, DGO Retd

UP, Bihar are less corrupt ?

It meens that UP, Bihar are less corrupt than BJP ruled States. It hs became a fashion to see our name in media start criticise BJP left right.

Ritish period slavery !

Chatterjee`s brief on the civil services is reflective of the hollow knowledge that he holds about the bureaucracy and the measures that need to be enforced to contain if not correct the rot that has set in this public oriented profession. Dispensing with the examination visa-a-viz the service is no solution to the ailment and once again reflect his frustration, intolerance and lack of aptitude to face or counter the criticism that is genuinely growing by leaps and bounds not of the civil service but for the ones who occupy these positions undeservingly or in an unbecoming manner. While there is no harm in picking up people of substance from the open market, it may not be the sole criteria. Examination process of UPSC is undisputedly the best and no one questions that at any point of time. It is the subsequent training that need to be reviewed and redefined. The training has to keep reminding the civil servants that Britishers having left India 70 years ago there are no slaves to serve them any more and they are now the servants of people on whose money they occupy the seats , equally permitted by the public in the hope that these masters will use their skill and knowledge to serve them by contributing to the growth and development of this country in a manner that reaches out to the last common man rather than boasting of their positions and keeping the public at bay with complete arrogance.

SR Govt Officer Retd.

Tendency to belittle other services

Unfortuantely, Some of the IAS officers have the tendency to belittle other services' officers. They should be taught to know how to get work from the colleagues of other services. At district level they belittle IPS officers!

Ashok

Very honest person !

I have worked as PS to very senior level officers in GoI and I knew Harish Gupta very well. I can say that he is a very honest person. Perhaps he could not withstand the pressure of corrupt political leaders while discharging his duties. On the other hand P C Parekh withstand the pressure. But still I say that H C Gupta is a very honest human.

Action taken by Bar Council against Advocates

Information regarding the number of complaints against the advocates under section 35 of the Advocates Act for the past 10 years, the number of cases that were disposed of, the number of advocates alleged to have committed misconduct or unethical conduct as provisions of Advocates Act, 1961 etc was sought. The CIC directed the Bar Council of Punjab & Haryana, Chandigarh to furnish the information sought. The CIC further directed that the action taken under Section 35 by the Bar Council should be published under Section 4(1)(b) of the RTI Act on their own without anybody asking for it. The Commission also directed the First Appellate Authority of the Bar Council of Punjab & Haryana, Chandigarh to show cause why disciplinary action cannot be recommended against him for not taking up the first appeal of the appellant. The CIC observed that though the Bar Associations are different from Bar Councils, they are also constituted under a law made by Parliament, i.e., the Advocates Act, 1961. They too have a duty to inform the people about their activities.

Comments

The Bar Council is a statutory body constituted under Advocates Act 1961, to protect ethical standards of Advocates and admonish the members for misconduct. This order has implications for all similar bodies which oversee the professional conduct.
