GoI's efforts to counter anti-demonetization propaganda proves futile

A number of Ministries and Departments in Government of India appeared to be devoid of concrete plans to deal with anti - demonetization propaganda. Not only this, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is also said to be on the horns of dilemma and waiting for solutions from the Ministries of Finance and IT so as to overcome hue and cry. Interestingly, the daily announcements being made by Finance Ministry to dispel the problems of Government Departments and common men after demonetization proved futile. To the contrary, the Prime Minister is appealing to the citizens to have patience and promote cash less monetary policy.

No more pain ...
I stay back on Shimla and as the lure of a warm fireplace and Hot Chocolate with Marshmallows is overpowering I request my Respected Friend that we'll meet at his place again today too and he readily accepts. As usual we get chatting ..
Me: Rahul's earthquake threat has really got many inquisitive ..what's so earth shaking that he's going to reveal..
Respected Friend : One ....he will say BJP deposited 5-8 crores in the 2 months preceding the Demonitisation announcement ..two. .. some land was brought too...and three.. Demonitisation was aimed at favoring the Moneybags via the money collected from the poor..
M: I'm guessing ....going by his reputation ..all hogwash ....
RF: Yes ...BJP's Annual donation collection for 2015 was about 400+ crores ....which means an average of 30+ crores / month ..what is so great about 8 crore deposits...land purchase decisions take Months ..its not off the shelf ..and the most ludicrous one was the third one.....he's making it look that a spate of loans will be written off using the Deposits...he forgets the environment has changed ..now loans and waivers are not done arbitrarily.....the Banks have to decide and bear the consequences ...
M: And he's said the leaks of new notes are intentional...
RF: The great Indian Jugaad is responsible for the leaks ...and now the Jugadoo lot are facing the music ...without a doubt some Bank employees have played a villainous role ... so have NGOs....Politicians ...
M: Has he not viewed the stings in which Congress, BSP, JD (U) and NCP leaders offer assistance to get Notes changed. ...
RF: Shameful. ... and I am sure the Channel would have contacted BJP Leaders too but drawn a blank....
M: Mayawati made a ludicrous analogy ..that BJP was being these stings ....seems Mamtha has momentarily handed the baton for ludicrousness to Mayawathi..
RF: Rahul Kanwal will give a fitting to her allegation!! The credibility of the Channel is at stake...
M: And Rahul Baba ji goes on like a broken record that he's being stopped from speaking in Parliament ...
RF: I think he feels ..heads he wins and tails BJP loses ...arre who created a shindy and did not allow both Houses to function for 16 days....should BJP not raise the Stings in the House ...
M: ( reading a Tweet on my Mobile ).. Sir now Rahul says he has explosive info about PM being personally corrupt ...and that's why PM is not allowing him to speak in the House...
RF: If he had any such info ...knowing the condition Congress is in he'd be shouting from rooftops revealing the info he has ..in all probability like Kejriwal he will wave some paper or dairy that has Modi's name ... I think as he knows his Quake threat has fallen flat he's now trying to invent something ...
M: Sir we know about the massive corruption during the 10 years of UPA...where did the corruption Buck stop ..this is more like the Blackest pot in the kitchen calling Service Silver black...
RF: Yes like someone sitting on a huge stock of Firecrackers lighting up a matchstick to throw at somebody ... I'm concerned about the step up in Global Oil prices ...I did a rough calculation and going by the past trend prices could rise by Rs 6 / litre in India ..
M: More pain...
RF: The Government had raised the Excise Duty during the Windfall days and could be Government will roll back the Excise Duty hike ...
M: Yes I feel it should ...don't test Public's pain bearing capacity ...
RF: And then when you yourself say Public deserves applause ...now show it in kind ..
M Sir joke for the road ...
RF: Post the Cyclone many in Chennai marked themselves as safe on Facebook ...aftervRahul did not deliver his Quake speech today ..why are Congis marking themselves as safe on Facebook...

Drawbacks of a poverty ridden country

One of the drawbacks of a poverty ridden country with a less developed economy is that there are few vocations and everybody wishes to follow the same vocations which they perceive to be good vocations, regardless of interest, ability or aptitude.

Grievance of a railway pass holder

A retired Master Craftsman claimed that despite being eligible for first class pass, the Railways had not been honouring several clauses related to the journey performed by a pass holder. He sought Information regarding rules relating to privilege passes issued to railway employees. The Commission observed that under the provisions of the RTI Act, 2005, only such information as is available and existing and held by the public authority or is under control of the public authority can be provided. The PIO is not supposed to create information that is not a part of the record. He is also not required to interpret information or furnish replies to hypothetical questions. Similarly, redressal of grievance, reasons for non-compliance of rules /contesting the actions of the respondent public authority are outside the purview of the Act. Further, the CIC observed that the appeal relates to the grievance of the retired employee regarding utilization of railway passes and lack of awareness and sensitization of the work force dealing with such matters. This aspect needs to be re-examined by the competent authority to provide relief and succour to the affected retired employees in an objective and transparent manner.

Comments

Even though the redressal of grievance is outside the purview of the RTI Act, it has been frequently used to obtain some relief. The Information Commission has been sympathetic to injustice metered through a system which is not objective or opaque.
