The two news items in the above context were written by N Natarajan and was published with a question of Political Will ! Now action by the Prime Minister has shown that such political will still prevails in this country.

"Demonetisation - a boon for Banking Industry"

Known for having showed her acumen in various segment in the banking industry, Mrs. Trishna Guha, who is presently Executive Director in Dena Bank, is of the view that demonetization - brought in by the Modi government recently - would be largely beneficial for banking industry.
In an informal chat with the Whispers In The Corridors (Editor- Sanjay Sharma & Vice President - Abul Hassan) during her recent visit to Bhopal, Mrs. Guha said that with huge increase in deposits following demonetization, banks will now not be compelled to borrow money because of rise in low cost deposits.

Congrats India....

I take the 5.13 local and today it's my chance to treat my Train Buddies and I carry along with me ………Samosas, Pedas and Tea…. I handover these to my Train Buddies.

Akbar: It's not your birthday… why the Pedas ( because we usually get on item with the Tea)!!!
Me: Arre haven't you heard Modi has been chosen by the Readers of TIME as the Person on the Year…
Akbar: Pucca Ambani has a hand in this…..
Amar: Abhe Kejriwal ke Chele …… go home and check out the Persons of the Year list …… as it is all his allegations about Modi and Ambani have fallen flat… did Modi hike up the Rate of Gas as alleged by Kejriwal!!!
Me: I think as Indians we all need to be proud!!!
Antony: Do you know Hitler and Stalin too were TIME's Persons of the Year!!!
Me: I'll just give you the list post 2007… Putin, Obama, Bernanke, Zuckerberg, The Protester (Representing the Arab Spring, Pope Francis, Ebola Fighters and Merkel….. are they or they Countrymen ashamed …. and very soon TIME will put out why Modi was chosen … in the case of Hitler he got it for a negative image.....Hitler was labeled the "greatest threatening force that the democratic, freedom-loving world faces today." I think Modi has been awarded for Ratifying the Climate Control Treaty and for the path breaking decisions he's taken …especially those for upliftment of the Poor!!! And TIME will put out the reasons in brief for him being chosen!!!!
Akbar: You forget Indira's Gareebi Hatao slogan…
Amar: Arre they don't give awards for slogans …..if it was for sloganeering your Kejriwal would have been in the run!!
Me: And just next to the Times Tweet * that names Modi as Person of the Year there is Derrick's Tweet about Hitler and Stalin being Persons of the Year and then another Times Tweet…Eating handful of nuts prevents many diseases…. ha ha… he, Kejriwal , Mamtha and Rahul could start this Nutty therapy and get over their nuttiness!!
Akbar: I'm sick of standing in ATM lines…. Public too is livid…
Amar: Chall jhoote… you forgot I was standing just behind you on a couple of occasions and then you were cribbing…. how can Public be so understanding on being inconvenienced so much!!!
Me: Public understands that Modi's taken this decision for the Nation…. Political Parties may ascribe different stupid reasons… but like they say Public hai yes sabh jaanthi hai!!!
Amar: And now in both Houses Congress MPs are doing Jaap ( holy recitation) of….. Modi… Modi… Modi….. I think Jawdekar even pointed this out during a reply to a question….. I think it's good to do Jaap of a Faqir!!!
Antony: And I read on Whispers this morning that a few Netas and Bureaucrats will go to jail…
Me: Baat nikkle gi toh durr takh jaye gi….. another change in India…. now the PM does not do whitewashing and clean chitting…. that took place in the old days!!! Now you pay for your sins!!!
Antony: Don't worry we have a very vigilant Media ….
Amar: And now to counteract any subjectiveness in the Media there is the Social Media …
Akbar: Yaar logh …personal issue…..help me out … I am suffering from acute Constipation….. bahut boora haal hai….
Me: There's a new treatment for Constipation in India…. they say sales of Dulcolax and Isabgol have fallen… especially in Luytens and Luyten types of areas all of India…. people download the start of Modi's Demonitization Speech…. when he says Bhaiyo aur Beheno ….. prior to going to the loo many hear this and replay it a couple of times …and lo and behold…. constipation cured…. and for acute cases …. there's his speech in which he says he has more ideas to attack Black Money….

Constants & Dynamics of History
History is the sum total of the constants and the dynamics of politics in human life. Today metaphors like the Rajsuya Yagya, Mahabharat, Dharmaraj, Pandavas, Kauravs, Hastinapur, Kurukhsetra, Chhediraj, Jarasandha etc. might sound incongruous but carry the same force of political dynamics as also the constants. "We" (that is the masses) can see the clouds of Mahabharat-II that "they" (political power seeking individuals or parties) are seeding in the geographical region of Hastinapur to Kurukhsetra. The Pandavas had their Dharmaraj, whom they obeyed though without always agreeing being exactly like him. The Kauravas sought to play their game by stoking the ambitions in the heart of the prince they designated illegitimately the Yuvraj. The feud aggravated to the scale of a full war ultimately, but the constant remains to be noted: it was a war between the "ideals" and the "practicals". One doctrine was that he who controls the state power, legitimately secured or immorally arrogated, is always right and the other was that only those for ethical governance were entitled to rule. The idealists performed the Rajsuya Yagya and sent out a decorated horse throughout their territory to announce their authority and securing allegiance of local lords. If any challenger tried to stop the horse, he had to fight a battle and prove his superiority. If the horse came back to the performer of the Yagya, with rich tributes from the vassals, the performer established his authority. The Rajsuya Yagya horse has returned to HQs with commendable tributes from all vassals. The battle lines are already drawn. The war is to break out soon. While Kurukhsetra rehearses the Gita again, Hastinapur is already in a state of high political turmoil.

"Am I needlessly paranoid ?"

I have decided not to go to theatres to see movies as I do not wish to be hauled up for contempt of recent Supreme Court's verdict and slapped with charge of Sedition. Moreover, I am not in the business of competitive Nationalism. I feel, I am a great nationalist and a greater patriot. But, I do not wish to carry the tag of Nationalism up my sleeve. Let no one force me to become more nationalistic than what I am, now. I am not aware of the practices in other liberal democracies of the world.

DATE WITH RTI

Grievance of a railway pass holder

A retired Master Craftsman claimed that despite being eligible for first class pass, the Railways had not been honouring several clauses related to the journey performed by a pass holder. He sought Information regarding rules relating to privilege passes issued to railway employees. The Commission observed that under the provisions of the RTI Act, 2005, only such information as is available and existing and held by the public authority or is under control of the public authority can be provided. The PIO is not supposed to create information that is not a part of the record. He is also not required to interpret information or furnish replies to hypothetical questions. Similarly, redressal of grievance, reasons for non-compliance of rules /contesting the actions of the respondent public authority are outside the purview of the Act. Further, the CIC observed that the appeal relates to the grievance of the retired employee regarding utilization of railway passes and lack of awareness and sensitization of the work force dealing with such matters. This aspect needs to be re-examined by the competent authority to provide relief and succour to the affected retired employees in an objective and transparent manner.

Comments

Even though the redressal of grievance is outside the purview of the RTI Act, it has been frequently used to obtain some relief. The Information Commission has been sympathetic to injustice metered through a system which is not objective or opaque.
