Between Liquor & opium which injures more ?
The hype against opium and its derivatives without a word against the harmful effects of liquor on the youth, whether in Punjab or elsewhere in the country is immoral crass commercialism. For the West, it is part of their economic policy in Asia to kill the indigenous trades and promote their own e.g. Coke/Pepsi/Liquor. Is opium really more injurious to health than liquor? The trade starts from Gazipur/ Bareilly and travels down to Indore, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Mumbai and international destinations under the protective supervision of the "peoples' representatives". Free this trade for a few years and see how many go bankrupt. Pakistan will stop its terror war in border states like Punjab & Kashmir if opium is made freely available for a few years on the borders. The Punjab Zamindars (there is a law in existence there) feed their farm labour to get maximum work at minimum wages. But opium has its good attributes too. Perhaps no Kalidas would have been born to India had there been no opium !

DATE WITH RTI

Proof of Dispatch

The Appellant had asked for certain information about a bank account. Before the CIC, he claimed that the PIO had not responded to the appellant within the time frame prescribed under the RTI Act. The CIC observed that the PIO had sent a point-wise response to the appellant within the stipulated period and directed the PIO to provide proof of dispatch to the appellant.

Comments

A PIO should not only provide the information to an applicant, but should also keep a record of the same lest a charge of not following the time limit is made against him. In case of failure to provide the proof of timely dispatch of information, penalty might be imposed on the PIO.
