"Congratulations, PM Modi"

Demonetisation of 500 and 1000 rupees indian currency notes is like a surgical strike by PM Modi on dirty money followed by Income Tax raids on the filthy rich money bags across the country. An effective ,long overdue step to curb black money that all previous ruling dispensations failed to take.Is India heading for a cashless, paperless transactions in India ?We can surely look forward to cashless voting in the coming assemblies' elections. The Opposition is desperate, frustrated, and confused. One wonders whether PM Modi's bold actions in India will trigger the anti- black money movement in Pakistani for de-thronement of corrupt civil and military establishments leading to peace and stability in the sub-continent.

R Ranjan

They can manage anyhow !

The other day Whispers gave the names of officers of two Railway services ,IRTS and IRAS who have been empanelled for posts of joint secretaries to Government of India. The IRTS officers are from 1990 and even earlier batches of 1989, 1988 and 1987 while those from IRAS were from 1987 batch only. What struck one was the widening gap between IAS and other Group A Services. For IAS the 1999 batch has already been empanelled and posted too and they are now taking up the 2000 batch. It is shocking to see that the gap which before two years was 4 to 5 years (which led to continuous demand for parity) has gone up to 10 to 12 years. One had expected NDA Government to improve the position but it has become worse. The other thing that struck me was that some of these officers who should not be there are very much there. A few of them held important posts during UPA rule like PSs to ministers and had dubious role in some cases. That means the system put in place for empanelment like that of a panel of outside experts and 360 degree feedback is also not full proof. Those experts in networking or manipulating the system as few of these officers have been can manage through whatever system is in place.
