What people say about us!

Your contribution to the nation-(Bhupender Kumar) Did Modi take lead from Whispersinthecorridors Forum column dated February 15, 2010 ?

Corruption and currency of 1000 and 500 notes

So the solution lies not in raiding 5-10 officers but in removing currency of notes of thousand and five hundred Rupee from the circulation. There should be smaller notes of 5,10,20,50 and maximum 100 rupees in India.

If the above is implemented then corruption will be eradicated conveniently. There will not be any need for raiding the premises of powerful bureaucrats and politicians. Because if one officer wants to take a bribe of 1 crore - he will have to build a big godown to store 1 crore Rupees of denomination of 50-100 notes. And the one who will give 1 crore bribe will have to hire 5 trucks to transport it to the officer! With this fake currency will also be eliminated - since nobody would risk printing 50 rupee note and get caught.

Therefore, through this esteemed website, may I request the readers as well as the authorities concerned to take immediate steps to stop printing one thousand and five hundred rupee notes and take back the notes of these denominations from the public by exchanging with smaller notes within a short span of time. India is a rich country with poor people - let its people be rich as well.

I request Whisper corridors to start a discussion on the above so that people can exchange their views on stopping the notes of 1000 and 500 Rupees, in the interest of common man of India.

POLITICS

This is History (437)
In 1933, Russia was a reactionary country - the purest forms of autocracy and authoritarianism flourished there .

Will portfolios of some Ministers be changed?
Will portfolios of some Union Ministers be changed after the ongoing Parliament session ? It is said that one or two important ministers may lose their portfolio.

Is JDU divided over demonetization ?

Two prominent JDU leaders - Nitish Kumar and Sharad Yadav - have different opinion about demonization. Kumar is supporting the move whole heartedly but Yadav is opposing it at all level. According to experts, the party seems to be a divided house on the subject. It is because both senior leaders have their own political agenda.

Is it true?
In many areas banks are not giving cash regularly and frequently forcing long queues. It is said that about 6 lakh crores have been deposited in banks within a fortnight and their chests are reportedly full. They have no space to keep new currency. Banks are reportedly collecting new currency daily and disbursing it same day. Will RBI clarify the position?

Mittro ----
I'm back in Shimla and its getting cold. My respected friend (a Retired Senior Bureaucrat) and I meet at a Coffee Shop and over Coffee and Cookies, we get chatting.
Me: No one can deny there is a lot of pain because of the Demonetization.
Respected Friend: It's a step that cannot be painless … if it is painless it has flopped! The success of Demonetization is directly proportional to the pain!!!
M: But politically many say it's a suicidal step!!!
RF: You have to understand Modi for this!!! He's now made it clear that he does what he says!!! Look at the Steps taken since 1984 to tackle Black Money!! Indians now realize he can take harsh decisions despite the Political damage!! So he's established his credibility here and Overseas too!! Suicidal... let it play out ... we will see!!
M: But I hear even in BJP Leaders are unhappy because of this Decision!!
RF: Partly because of Personal reasons and partly because of Political reasons!!! When he promised to tackle Black Money he did not say 'OPM' or Other People's Money only…. in his book Black Money in hands of a friend is even a bigger malaise!!! And then some BJP Leaders are worried of the Political outfall! Though after yesterday's Poll results this fear would have receded to some extent!!
M: Now what…
RF: Let me explain it this way…. a child goes to the Dentist …. post the procedure the Dentist hands the Kid a Balloon. Now if the Procedure does not do the job the Kid and his Parents are going to curse the Dentist…. and if the Dentist does not give the kid a balloon post the procedure the kid will not want to go to the Dentist again!!! Simple as that!!!!
M: So Post the Procedure Modi has done if Black Money makes a comeback …like the old days…. and if the Public are not rewarded this Procedure would be a flop!!
RF: Frankly till 2019 Black Money will not be able to gain lost ground!!! As it is what accumulated over decades cannot come to the same level even in a decade!!! The Caveat here is ….. let us see the Quantum of Notes that 'go missing'!!! There has to be balm and reward in due course!!!
M: What reward…
RF: There is talk of deposits in Jan Dhan Accounts…. waiver of Farm Loans…. reduction of Income Tax….to reward different sections of Indian Society….but a Caveat here too…. Modi personally does not believe in 'Free Lunches'… so we will have to see how this plays out!!!
M: So with Pain, there must be personal gain!!!
MF: Absolutely … we may be patriotic …. but bottom line is we all feel India is because of us!!!!
M: Opposition is very critical of this move…. though they are masking it in the name of inconveniences being faced by Indians!!
MF: And the Deaths…. Kejriwal says no Swiss Bank Holder has died when details of his or her accounts have been revealed!!!! I wonder if he's done a study on this!! As these people fight cases they lose their health and wealth … the Doctors may give a medical term for the cause of Death but the Family within themselves blames the revelation of the Account and the battle thereafter!! Its a more painful death!!! And these seem to be deaths because of natural causes..
M: It would be very cruel to say Collateral damage….. I think Modi will have to wear his Thinking Cap to apply balm to this wound caused by Demonetization!!
MF: Someone has said… Kings in this World should imitate God, their mercy should be above their work!!!
M: True …. true …..humans find humor in the most trying circumstances…..they say Indian Husbands are mortified of 3 words the Wife uses… Ajee sunthe ho…. now this has been displaced to No. 2….. now at No. 1 is …. Modi saying Bhaiyo aur Beheno or Mittro…..
RF: And they say many who enjoy an evening tipple have represented to Modi…. please do not make such announcement at 8 pm….. nashaa uttar jaatha hai!!!
We have a good laugh and go our ways.

Demonetization will lead to logical end if …

The demonetization will lead to logical end with enhanced use of plastic money in terms of debit/credit cards and mobile phone transaction. For that three essentials are 1. The internet connection thus immediately release 700mtz spectrum. 2. POS machines with every trader. 3. Incentivize use by doing away with extra charge levied on he trader. 4. Unifrom platform for mobile phone transaction. 5. For large transaction internet banking is there-----so need of cash will reduce by 60%. Saving to RBI to print notes and thus the incentive to less cash instruments will be a positive bargain for RBI and of course Government

Grievance of a railway pass holder

A retired Master Craftsman claimed that despite being eligible for first class pass, the Railways had not been honouring several clauses related to the journey performed by a pass holder. He sought Information regarding rules relating to privilege passes issued to railway employees. The Commission observed that under the provisions of the RTI Act, 2005, only such information as is available and existing and held by the public authority or is under control of the public authority can be provided. The PIO is not supposed to create information that is not a part of the record. He is also not required to interpret information or furnish replies to hypothetical questions. Similarly, redressal of grievance, reasons for non-compliance of rules /contesting the actions of the respondent public authority are outside the purview of the Act. Further, the CIC observed that the appeal relates to the grievance of the retired employee regarding utilization of railway passes and lack of awareness and sensitization of the work force dealing with such matters. This aspect needs to be re-examined by the competent authority to provide relief and succour to the affected retired employees in an objective and transparent manner.

Comments

Even though the redressal of grievance is outside the purview of the RTI Act, it has been frequently used to obtain some relief. The Information Commission has been sympathetic to injustice metered through a system which is not objective or opaque.
