What people say about us!
It's a very informative and useful site which I have been religiously
following throughout my career. I have superannuated recently and feel
that this site can also be made more useful and relevant to retired
officers by providing some information on post retirement opportunities,

"Modi has no parallel"
-Prime Minister Narendra Modi who till a little less than two years
ago was beloved of the majority might be losing charm in the opinion
of some people but the question is that does any one else including
his opponents - Rahul, Mulayam or Lalu - have any charm ?
This question came up in the wake of response of the surfers of whispersinthecorridors.com
who were asked - "Is PM Narendra Modi losing his charm ? Is he
a changed man ?" While some replied in the affirmative, majority
did not agree and some of them even asked who else among Indian politicians
can stand parallel to him and suggested 'to see the things in the right
perspective'.

Did Madras HC Judge's transfer to Calcutta HC, set the controversy
at rest ".
Media's ostrich-like approach (including your illustrious site : Whispersinthecorridors.com)
and the studied silence of the colluding political class , is all very
intriguing. Even the Judiciary did not provide a solution matching the
gravity of situation. Giving controversy a quiet burial is the last
thing that one would expect from Supreme court, the champion of transparency.

Who cares about JNU ?
I completely agree with Swarup about JNU. Only some so called intellectuals
with leftist leanings and media is blowing out of proportion JNU. Who
cares about JNU in the country except a miniscule few. Who except a
few hundreds bother for Kumar's speeches. Only channels are bothered.

Why does Modi come across as a harsh person to many people?
There are many reasons why Narendra Modi, who is actually a very compassionate
person, comes across as harsh, to many people.
Firstly, Modi has risen from the grassroots and great poverty. During
the process, he has had to swallow insults, taunts, adversity and enemy
action. Faced with all that, anyone develops an exterior which appears
tough, in order to prevent further attack. Secondly, his rise has not
been without many impediments. He has had to face many road blocks,
many wrong accusations, enemy action etc. This has strengthened his
resolve and determination. Many people mis-read the determination as
haughtiness. Thirdly, Modi has not had a privileged education, so the
art of unctuousness, so easily acquired by the Doon school types is
unfamiliar to him. Then, Modi does not have a family to look after.
Often, a family man learns to be more forgiving and bends more, he has
a family to look after which makes him flinch. Modi is a rajarshi, so
he is sometimes seen as dour. His opponents seek to paint him black
all the time, and since no other charges can stick, the charge of being
haughty is repeated ad-nauseum. Last, but not the least, he has unflinching
nationalism, patriotism and love for India as a whole, no compromises
there. The enemies of India keep portraying him as hard and unflinching.

Fraudulent surrender of LIC Policy
The Appellant took a health plus policy. She learnt that her policy
was surrendered without her knowledge on the basis of her forged
signatures on the policy and the amount was used for taking two
new policies by her mother-in-law. She complained to LIC and got
an FIR registered at Meerut. The LIC informed her that they had
sought the explanation of the agent concerned. She asked for a
copy of this explanation of the LIC agent under RTI which was
denied to her. She argued that the information sought related
to her and therefore, she was not a third party and had a right
to get a copy of the explanation. LIC stated that on the basis
of a complaint, they had paid the amount along with interest to
the appellant and redressed her grievance. The copy of the explanation
submitted by the agent was denied claiming it to be personal information
related to the agency. Relying on the Apex Court judgment in Girish
Ramchandra Deshpande case, the CIC upheld the denial of information
Comments
The appellant was able to get back the amount with interest due
to the pressure created by RTI application. It is a mute question
whether an explanation of the LIC agent in respect of alleged
fraud committed in respect of a client can be called as a third
party information.
