What people say about us!
It's a very informative and useful site which I have been religiously
following throughout my career. I have superannuated recently and feel
that this site can also be made more useful and relevant to retired
officers by providing some information on post retirement opportunities,
placements etc.

CBI to issue warning?
According to sources in Vijay Mallya alleged escape case CBI is likely
to issue warning to the concerning officer.
Galaa ya dimaag.....
My CA is very talkative and politically savvy ... drop in to meet him
and after we finish our work we get talking over Tea and biscuits ...
jam and chocolate ones....
CA: Arre this Mallya fellow ...they should send his case to the Ethics
Committee and revoke his being a MP... MP cannot be a Defaulter ...and
this guy is the King of Defaulters..
Me: Yes they can then revoke his Diplomatic Passport and issue him
travel documents to return to India ... so that when Brit Courts ask
him why are you not going back he cannot say I don't have a Passport.
..
M: Banks are behaving holier than thou now..
CA: Those were the days when instruction came from way way up for loans.
.. for overlooking..for booking ...etc...I don't understand how did
the Banks grant Pre Delivery Advance ... Airbus ought to refund the
Advance Payment .... I hear Airbus did try to wiggle out but the sum
lying with Airbus has been attached ....
M: And why are the Banks moving so slowly on recovery .... his personal
assets... his planes ...cars....houses ...his real estate holdings overseas..
CA: I'm not sure about his Real Estate holdings overseas ...would in
all probability be owned by Shell Companies and Mallya would be paying
a pittance as rent..he's a smart businessman and he must have expected
a move on his investments overseas ...and he's not going to roll over
and accept ...
CA: See he's not coming back... he's entered UK with a Valid Passport
and Visa so even if his Passport is cancelled he still is on solid ground
as per Brit Law....
M: And now Congress is dishing out hogwash that Jaitley helped Mallya
to slink away ..
CA: There was no arrest warrant and CBI going for the overkill had
issued Detain Orders .. so later these orders are modified to look put
and inform.... so how could they stop him...
M: Jaitley must have taken quite a few by surprise when he said...
don't hide taxable income as Farm Income ...
CA: Plantations especially ... rich and famous own plantations ...
some even leased for functions ...rentals are masked as Farm income
...many Farm Houses do this ...under the garb of exotic veggies..
M: And what's Owaisi's problem with Bharat Mata ji jai..
CA:He says it's idol worship..don't know how he conjured this one ..
M: Muslims often use Maadar e Wattan so let him say Maader e Wattan
India Zindabad ..
CA: He'll them say got a bad throat . . ha ha ...and it'll be a circumstantial
problem. .whenever he's asked to say this he'll say ... galaa kharaab...
M: Replace galaa with dimaag....

"Modi has no parallel"
-Prime Minister Narendra Modi who till a little less than two years
ago was beloved of the majority might be losing charm in the opinion
of some people but the question is that does any one else including
his opponents - Rahul, Mulayam or Lalu - have any charm ?
This question came up in the wake of response of the surfers of whispersinthecorridors.com
who were asked - "Is PM Narendra Modi losing his charm ? Is he
a changed man ?" While some replied in the affirmative, majority
did not agree and some of them even asked who else among Indian politicians
can stand parallel to him and suggested 'to see the things in the right
perspective'.

It hasn't happened for the first time
The ages old maxim of governance is, "You show me the man, I shall
show you the Rule". It is not for the first time that it has happened
so. There have been numerous occasions when 3 officers of the same Batches
have become Chairman while none could become promoted due to elasticity
in the Rule depending upon the persons in power that be. 1968, 1970,1971,1973,1974
and 1978 Batches were privileged with 3 or more from these Batches to
be promoted as Chairman, none from 1972 and 1977 Batches could get the
prestigious opportunity sheerly due to the nepotism and opportunistic
policies of the Govt in power.

Service matters included under the policy ?
The department of legal affairs had called in May 2015, the details
of all the court cases pending in high courts and tribunals, from all
the departments, ministries, Additional and Assistant Solicitor Generals
and standing counsels. Many reminders were also issued. The copy of
the Memorandum was especially marked to the Standing counsels of the
various benches of the CAT as well as branch secretariats of Law Ministry.
This amply shows that service matter are included under the policy.
But the Member (P& V) of the CBEC, who looks after the service matter
pertaining to the officials of the CBEC, has not even asked till date,
the field formations to compile the data on behalf of the CBEC. That
is in sharp contrast to the Member ( L&J) of the same CBEC, who
is breathing through the neck of the officers to compile data regarding
revenue cases. Perhaps the Government is dragging its feet on the issue
of service matters, and it intends that the benefit of the New Litigation
policy should reach only the big tax payers who help the government
in election time, and not the officials who are considered adversaries
of this government. But non inclusion of service matters will mark failure
of the policy, since the service matters outnumber the revenue cases
in the central Government.

Utilising this website for praising their friends
Some people are utilising this website for praising their friends on
their promotion or appointment to some higher post. Thus, this website
is being considered by them as their personal portal. In my view, this
is sheer misuse of this website. I would request Malhotra Sir either
to make an appeal through this website to such people not to send such
purely personal references to the website or not publish such personal
references.

World Cultural Festival not served any purpose
Much hype was created by media about World Cultural Festival held in
Delhi from 11- 13 March 2016. But, in reality it had not served any
purpose to the ordinary citizen of India. First, there was no proper
sitting arrangement for common persons visiting the venue. Many people
just came and went as there was no place for them to sit. Second, the
stage was so far that the cultural program was hardly visible. There
were very few TVs installed at the venue.
The whole Mega Show has left tonnes of garbage at the bank of Yamuna.
It might have helped Art of Living Foundation with flowing donations
but to the common persons it was just another harassment.

Govt should coordinate entire exercise
All school students and university students should be told that if you
come forward and take part in the cleaning of the river Jamuna during
this summer vacation, you will be given 5% extra marks. The Government
should coordinate the entire exercise. You will find that the Yamuna
is clean.

What a festival it was !
Many of us felt upset and angry to the damage done to Yamuna floodplain
by the preparations going on massive scale for World Culture Festival
of Art Of Living Foundation. But what a festival it was ! Fantastic,
unparalleled of its own kind in the world. Thousands of artists from
155 countries performed and what a performance they put up. One had
never seen such an event before. Only an organisation like AOL could
organise such a mega event. Sri Sri Ravishankar has indeed proved himself
to be so popular around the World. We must take pride in the fact that
such a big show took place in our country. AOL has also promised to
build a big biodiversity park on the place to restore the environment
as also to help in cleaning the river. I salute Sri Sri Ravishankar
after watching this great show(Of course on TV)

Fraudulent surrender of LIC Policy
The Appellant took a health plus policy. She learnt that her policy
was surrendered without her knowledge on the basis of her forged
signatures on the policy and the amount was used for taking two
new policies by her mother-in-law. She complained to LIC and got
an FIR registered at Meerut. The LIC informed her that they had
sought the explanation of the agent concerned. She asked for a
copy of this explanation of the LIC agent under RTI which was
denied to her. She argued that the information sought related
to her and therefore, she was not a third party and had a right
to get a copy of the explanation. LIC stated that on the basis
of a complaint, they had paid the amount along with interest to
the appellant and redressed her grievance. The copy of the explanation
submitted by the agent was denied claiming it to be personal information
related to the agency. Relying on the Apex Court judgment in Girish
Ramchandra Deshpande case, the CIC upheld the denial of information
Comments
The appellant was able to get back the amount with interest due
to the pressure created by RTI application. It is a mute question
whether an explanation of the LIC agent in respect of alleged
fraud committed in respect of a client can be called as a third
party information.
