POLITICS

This is History (225)
After several years of terrible strain and conflict, the revolution exhausts its energy and turns on itself and begins to eat up its own children.

Will Rahul go the Sonia way ?

Will the Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi go the Sonia way ? Party sources close to him say that there is a thinking that Rahul may not opt to be a PM, if and when his party gets enough numbers, but put someone else on the front and rule from behind the curtains like her mother.

Who will benefit from new Civil Aviation policy in the making ?

Grapevine has it that Tatas and AirAsia will be benefited from the new National Civil Aviation policy in the making. On the other hand, Jet Airways and Air India are all set to be the sufferers. The new National Civil Aviation policy in the making reportedly envisages that one who has five Air Crafts can run an international flight. The new policy will be related to the 5/20 international flying norm.

Aisa kyon....

My neighbor drops in for a Coffee.

Neighbor: Not only has Jaitley cut the interest rates of schemes like EPF ..PPF... he says he will tag the rates to market interest rates..

Me: Seems he's not bothered about the objectives of these Schemes. .. he feels the tax exemption is a windfall for investors ... how will he do this...maybe he will draw a balance between interest and tax exemption so that net effect is Market rate...

N: What saddens me .....we time and again get Lawyers to head a Ministry that should be the domain of an Economist...

M: Over the years other FMs may have been tempted too... but seems the objective of the schemes stopped them... or unpopularity ...who will explain him that EPF and PPF are more like Social Security ...in a Nation where there is no Social Security...

N: No use I feel the Lawyer in him has taken over .... and Jaitley is damn good at arguing ...and by reducing interest in these Schemes he is forcing Middle Class to turn to unproductive investments like gold ...

Me: And then when he's in a tagging mood ...fuel.. interest... how about tagging Income Tax rates too (tag with Nations that don't have Social Security) ..

M: Modi has hit the nail on the head by asking his Partymen think before they speak..
N: Yes when people get power the first disconnect that takes place is between brain and tongue ... then from reality ....

M: And what with a baised Media waiting to pounce on every word someone from BJP says ... and then precious time and energy is spent on correcting the wrong ...

N: Prevention is better than cure ...

M: Yes all of them don't have to be self appointed roaming Spokesmen ...there is a reason why Spokesmen are appointed ..

N: I also feel BJP should avoid sending Spokesmen to Channels which are out to hang BJP... because there too every word is twisted and turned ....

M: I hear Tharoor has equated Kanhiya with Bhagat Singh ..

N: One inference ...his history is pathetic ...

M: Uttrakhand going the Arunachal way...

N: Congress MLAs are rebelling ..rather than looking inwards Congress pointing fingers at BJP....and seems they forget their own past .... again the Tharoor inference ...their sense of history is also pathetic...

"Modi has no parallel"
-Prime Minister Narendra Modi who till a little less than two years ago was beloved of the majority might be losing charm in the opinion of some people but the question is that does any one else including his opponents - Rahul, Mulayam or Lalu - have any charm ?
This question came up in the wake of response of the surfers of whispersinthecorridors.com who were asked - "Is PM Narendra Modi losing his charm ? Is he a changed man ?" While some replied in the affirmative, majority did not agree and some of them even asked who else among Indian politicians can stand parallel to him and suggested 'to see the things in the right perspective'.

Modi's trust in Indian Muslims is well-placed

When PM Modi said that the Indian Muslims could not fall prey to the jehadis, he was spot on.Reasons are not far to seek? A majority of Indian Muslims follow Sufi - strain of Islam. They worship Nizamuddin Aulia and Moinuddin Chishti, who are revered in equal measure by the Hindus. All are grounded in India's history of harmony, tolerance, mysticism and diversity. India is a land of paradoxes. Modi is well-intentioned . His honesty, integrity , sense of nationalism and patriotism cannot be questioned. The key to his success, however, is not to prioritize what he has on schedule but in scheduling his priorities.

DATE WITH RTI

Fraudulent surrender of LIC Policy

The Appellant took a health plus policy. She learnt that her policy was surrendered without her knowledge on the basis of her forged signatures on the policy and the amount was used for taking two new policies by her mother-in-law. She complained to LIC and got an FIR registered at Meerut. The LIC informed her that they had sought the explanation of the agent concerned. She asked for a copy of this explanation of the LIC agent under RTI which was denied to her. She argued that the information sought related to her and therefore, she was not a third party and had a right to get a copy of the explanation. LIC stated that on the basis of a complaint, they had paid the amount along with interest to the appellant and redressed her grievance. The copy of the explanation submitted by the agent was denied claiming it to be personal information related to the agency. Relying on the Apex Court judgment in Girish Ramchandra Deshpande case, the CIC upheld the denial of information

Comments

The appellant was able to get back the amount with interest due to the pressure created by RTI application. It is a mute question whether an explanation of the LIC agent in respect of alleged fraud committed in respect of a client can be called as a third party information.
