World Environment Day celebrates with enthusiasm at SECL Headquarters (UPDATED)

South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm at its Headquarters Auditorium. The event commenced with the hoisting of the environment flag by the Chief Guest, Chairman-cum-Managing Director Harish Duhan, in the esteemed presence of Director (Technical – Operations & Project Planning) N Franklin Jaykumar, Director (HR), Biranchi Das, Director (Finance) D. Sunil Kumar, Chief Vigilance Officer Himanshu Jain, President of Shraddha Mahila Mandal Mrs Shashi Duhan, Vice Presidents Mrs Haseena Kumar and Smt. Vinita Jain, General Manager (Environment) BK Jena, along with departmental heads, officers, and employees. The program commenced with the hoisting of the Environment Flag followed by the playing of the Coal India Corporate Song. On this occasion, the “Paryavaran Darpan” magazine, which documents SECL’s environmental initiatives, was released by the dignitaries present on stage. CMD Harish Duhan administered the “Environment Pledge” to all attendees. A street play based on environmental awareness was also performed by the Agraj Natya Dal, which captivated the audience. In his address, CMD Harish Duhan extended his best wishes for World Environment Day and emphasized reducing the use of plastic in daily life. He further said that if plastic is used, it should be recycled and reused to minimize its environmental impact. Winners of various competitions held to mark World Environment Day were felicitated during the event. On the occasion of World Environment Day, SECL formally launched the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam 2.0” campaign initiated by the  Prime Minister Narendra Modi. CMD Harish Duhan, Director (Technical – Operations & Project Planning) N. Franklin Jaykumar, Director (HR) Biranchi Das, Director (Finance) D Sunil Kumar, Chief Vigilance Officer Himanshu Jain, Shraddha Mahila Mandal President Mrs Shashi Duhan, Vice Presidents Mrs Haseena Kumar and Smt. Vinita Jain, General Manager (Environment) BK Jena, along with various departmental heads, officers, and employees, participated in a plantation drive in the premises of the administrative building, planting medicinal, fruit-bearing, and other diverse species of saplings. Under this campaign, SECL has set a target to plant over 1 lakh saplings across its headquarters and various operational areas in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
