Madhya Pradesh Emerges as a Global Tourism Hub: AMD Ms Mukherjee (UPDATED)

Madhya Pradesh is emerging as a premier global tourism destination, blending cultural richness, historical landmarks, and natural beauty. At a road show in Jaipur on 18 July, the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board highlighted the state's unique offerings to tourism professionals, including tour operators, hotel industry stakeholders, filmmakers, and influencers. This event was a precursor to the Madhya Pradesh Travel Mart (October 2025) and upcoming tourism conclaves across various cities like Rewa, Gwalior, and Indore.

Bidisha Mukherjee, Additional Managing Director of the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, emphasized that the state, aptly known as the 'Heart of India', is not just geographically central but also a hub of diverse culture, heritage, and hospitality. She outlined plans to bring lesser-known destinations to the forefront, ensuring that tourists leave with unforgettable experiences, stories, and memories. To further boost regional tourism, Mukherjee proposed connecting Rajasthan's wildlife circuit with Madhya Pradesh's Sheopur region, where tourists visiting Ranthambore can explore leopards in Kuno National Park. She also encouraged tour operators to include key MP destinations like Khajuraho, Mandu, and Chanderi in travel itineraries.

The event also saw discussions on investment opportunities in tourism, with participants exploring ways to enhance business collaboration between Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The ease of travel between the two states—via road, rail, and air—was highlighted as a key factor in facilitating increased tourism, cultural exchange, and economic growth. With strong connectivity and a wide array of experiences, Madhya Pradesh is set to attract more visitors, solidifying its place on the global tourism map.
