The HPV Vaccination Campaign under 'Mission Sanjeevani' was formally launched today at the SECL Headquarters' Indira Vihar Health Centre. The campaign was inaugurated by SECL CMD Harish Duhan. On this occasion, Director (Human Resources) Biranchi Das, Director (Finance) D Sunil Kumar, Chief Vigilance Officer Himanshu Jain, President of Shraddha Mahila Mandal and First Lady of SECL Mrs Shashi Duhan, Vice President Mrs Anita Franklin, CMS Dr (Mrs.) Pratibha Pathak, CMS Dr. Shruti Dev Mishra (Indira Vihar), department heads, union representatives, officers, and employees were present. CMD Harish Duhan stated that this campaign is a significant step towards women’s health and prevention of serious diseases like cancer. SECL gives utmost priority to the health of its employees and their families, and such welfare initiatives will continue in the future as well. Over 2400 Registrations in the First Phase: The objective of the campaign is to vaccinate female employees of SECL and eligible female family members against HPV (Human Papillomavirus) to reduce the risk of cervical cancer and other HPV-related diseases. More than 2400 registrations have been recorded in the first phase. The campaign targets girls and women aged between 9 and 26 years. The company is administering the highly effective Nonavalent HPV vaccine, which helps reduce the risk of cervical cancer by up to 90%. Director (Human Resources) Biranchi Das said, “This vaccination campaign is not just a health initiative but also a remarkable example of the effective use of digital technology. Through a dedicated portal, we have enabled beneficiary identification, dose management, certificate generation, and real-time monitoring, making the entire process streamlined and transparent.” Digital Tracking and Reporting through Portal: This is possibly the first HPV vaccination campaign in any Coal India subsidiary to be powered by a digital platform. A dedicated portal has been developed to track each dose administered in real-time. After every dose, a digital certificate is automatically issued to the beneficiary. Understanding Cervical Cancer: HPV is a common virus that can affect the cells of the cervix. In India, approximately 1.25 lakh (125,000) women are diagnosed with cervical cancer every year, and over 70,000 deaths occur annually due to this disease. It is one of the few cancers that can be effectively prevented through timely vaccination and screening. This vaccination campaign is a vital step towards SECL's inclusive health policy and reflects its commitment to women's empowerment.
