Workshop on GeM Mechanisms upholding integrity in procurement (UPDATED)

A workshop on GeM (Government e-Marketplace – an online platform created by the Government of India for the procurement of common goods and services by government departments and organizations) procurement procedures was organized as part of Vigilance Awareness Week 2025 jointly by the NLC India Limited’s Nodal Officer & NLCIL Vigilance Department on 07.11.2025 at Learning & Development Centre, NLCIL.  The workshop was attended by about 100 senior Executives of the company from across all domains and Units. Executives from outstation projects & Joint Ventures also took part in it through VC mode. Appakannu Govindarajan, IPoS, CVO, NLCIL, who took part in the workshop stressed upon the need for adapting to inevitable changes in ecosystem and also to elevate the company's standing at pan India level. He added that Instead of attributing any shortcomings to the GeM platform, we must focus on improving our internal procurement mechanisms and in the process break the silo mindset as we are aiming to be a pan-Indian player in Coal & Power sector. Executive Directors Majumdar (Corporate Contracts & MMC) and DVSN Murthy (Legal & CSR) addressed the gathering highlighting the need for improving our purchase processes. The GeM representative Jayavadivel Raja, presented latest updates in the GeM procurement portal & answered clarifications sought by the participants which included issues like mandatory Estimate Value (for GFR-149 compliance), rules against Negotiation Post-Reverse Auction, the new QCBS (Quality and Cost Based Selection) method for services and other related topics. Earlier, Mrs R Latha, GeM Nodal Officer of NLCIL, welcomed the participants. The workshop reiterated the NLCIL's commitment to development of transparent, efficient, and ethical procurement practices.
