whispers in the corridors

Former Judge of High Court of Judicature at Allahabad, Justice Sudhir Agarwal, who is well known for his landmark judgement in Ram Janam Bhoomi- Babri Masjid case, in an enlightening disclosure, shared how the arrest of SIMI activists in Madhya Pradesh uncovered detailed family information, triggering swift and comprehensive security protocols for everyone linked to the Ram Janmabhoomi verdict, including extended relatives. This proactive response from agencies instilled a sense of assured protection, allowing the team to proceed with confidence in divine guidance. Agarwal viewed it as a positive affirmation of institutional vigilance, which played a key role in the verdict’s smooth, violence-free rollout across India, turning potential concerns into a story of national resilience.
Years after the verdict, Justice Agarwal said, he attended the Pran Pratishtha on January 22, 2024, arriving on the 20th and departing the 24th. "Seeing the grand structure, birthplace of faith realized, filled me with profound joy and vindication. Thousands messaged after my Facebook post; it was closure, a master’s touch to our foundational work. Emotionally, it’s gratitude—the site’s harmony now mirrors the verdict’s intent. Second time I visited the temple was in February this year. I am happy to see what I have sown is flourishing", he recalled.
Justice Agarwal, who spotlighted his innovative ruling requiring government officials, judges, and leaders to use government schools for their children and public hospitals for care, believes that this would create genuine incentives that spark infrastructure enhancements and broader equity. He celebrated these as bridges to progress, where elite involvement drives uplifting changes for all. At the NGT, he optimistically highlighted the tribunal’s strengthening role in eliminating pollution, Ganga restoration—via targeted fines and community partnerships—pushing for empowered implementation under Namami Gange to mark tangible victories in environmental renewal and sustainable harmony.
With heartfelt encouragement, Justice Agarwal motivated young lawyers to anchor in ethics and evidence, seeing law as a rewarding path to uplift the underserved, beyond mere acclaim. He recommended broad reading in history and philosophy, adherence to facts in delicate cases, and diligent effort over hype—mirroring his own success in resolving over 1.4 lakh matters through unwavering focus. Ultimately, he inspired them to confront only injustice, embracing the Constitution with zeal to forge a legacy of profound, positive impact.
