LPAI signs MoU with Directorate of Skill Development (UPDATED)

Tripura The Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Directorate of Skill Development, Government of Tripura recently to jointly implement Skill Development and Community Outreach Programmes at the LPAI Training Centre, Agartala. This collaboration marks an important step towards promoting inclusive growth and strengthening livelihoods in India's border regions. Under the MoU, both organisations will jointly design and deliver structured training programmes focused on: Women's empowerment and entrepreneurship; Vocational and livelihood development; Community outreach and awareness; Sustainable economic self-reliance. The initiative is expected to benefit women, youth, and local workers in the border districts by enhancing employability, fostering entrepreneurship, and expanding income-generating opportunities. Officials from both organisations highlighted that investing in human capital around land ports is critical for improving the socio-economic ecosystem, boosting productivity, and deepening people-to-people engagement in border areas. The upcoming programmes at the LPAI Training Centre, Agartala will play a key role in nurturing skilled manpower and strengthening local enterprise. With this MoU, LPAI reaffirms its commitment to building not just efficient and secure land ports, but also resilient and empowered border communities-ensuring that infrastructure development goes hand in hand with human development.
