IIT Ropar concludes three-day innovation & entrepreneurship Bootcamp (UPDATED)

Indian Institute of Technology Ropar successfully concluded a three-day Innovation, Design and Entrepreneurship (IDE) Bootcamp for principals and teachers of PM SHRI Schools on December 24, 2025. The intensive capacity-building programme, held from December 22-24, trained over 200 school educators in innovation-driven teaching practices aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The bootcamp was jointly organised by the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL), All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), and the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell (MIC), in collaboration with IIT Ropar–Technology Business Incubator Foundation (TBIF) and the Wadhwani Foundation. Participants underwent structured training through interactive workshops on design thinking and innovation pedagogy, collaborative group activities focusing on creativity and problem-solving, and hands-on exposure to innovation frameworks including the D.I.S.R.U.P.T model, Spark Quest, and the Business Model Canvas. The programme also featured sessions on entrepreneurial planning, financial literacy basics, and idea development. The bootcamp aimed to equip educators with practical tools to mentor student innovation initiatives and establish School Innovation Councils in their respective institutions. "This programme reflects our commitment to transforming school education through innovation and entrepreneurship," said Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director, IIT Ropar. "Under the vision of NEP 2020, we are building capacity among educators to foster creativity and problem-solving skills among students from an early age." Under Prof. Ahuja's leadership, IIT Ropar has emerged as a vibrant hub for innovation and entrepreneurship, with a highly active startup ecosystem. The institute's sustained efforts in nurturing early-stage innovations, supporting technology-driven startups, and promoting translational research through structured mentoring, incubation support, and industry linkages enriched the bootcamp experience. Certificates were distributed to all participants upon successful completion of the programme. The trained educators are expected to implement innovation-driven teaching practices and establish robust innovation ecosystems in their schools across the region. The successful conclusion of the IDE Bootcamp underscores the collaborative efforts between national education bodies and premier higher education institutions to promote innovation, entrepreneurship, and experiential learning at the grassroots level of India's education system.
