Revised Social Media Policy in Army

The Indian Army updated its guidelines to allow “passive participation” on platforms like Instagram and X (viewing/monitoring only—no posting, liking, or sharing). Messaging apps (e.g., WhatsApp) are permitted for unclassified info, aiming to balance awareness with operational security. This replaces a 2021 blanket ban and responds to evolving digital threats. No active engagement is allowed to prevent misinformation or leaks.
