Appointment of Vice Chief of Air Staff (VCAS)
Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor assumed charge as the 50th VCAS on January 1, 2026, succeeding Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari. Kapoor, a recipient of the Sarvottam Yudha Sewa Medal for his role in Operation Sindoor (May 2025), was previously the Southwestern Air Command (SWAC) Chief. This marks the third VCAS change in 15 months, following Tiwari’s short 8-month tenure (May-Dec 2025).
