Department of Telecommunications reshuffle
On December 29, 2025, the Department of Telecommunications announced a significant leadership shake-up in the Indian Telecom Service (ITS), transferring three senior officers and regularizing promotions for two others to Higher Administrative Grade (HAG). This impacts oversight of PSUs like Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL, a Navratna PSU) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL). The transfers aim to streamline 5G rollout and spectrum management amid ongoing BSNL revival efforts.
