Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi (born May 1964) retires in May 2026. Who will succeed him?
· Vice Admiral Sanjay Vatsayan, Vice Chief of Naval Staff since August 2025, is a favoured contender.
· Vice Admiral Gurcharan Singh, Chief of Personnel and former Eastern Fleet Commander, is also in the reckoning.
· However, within naval circles, Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan is widely believed to be best placed to take over as the next Navy Chief.
