Three Integrated Theatre Commands in 2026
India is poised to establish three integrated military theatre commands (likely focused on Western, Eastern, and Maritime fronts) before Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan retires in May 2026. The CDS is expected to seek Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) approval soon. This represents a major structural reform for joint operations across Army, Navy, and Air Force.
