whispers in the corridors
A special group of bureaucrats and legal experts is said to be examining possible ways to implement women’s reservation ahead of the 2029 general elections. The effort reportedly focuses on the legal, administrative, and procedural steps needed to make the quota workable within the existing political timetable.
Officials are understood to be studying different models, including how to manage delimitation, rollout, and seat allocation without causing avoidable delay. The idea is to identify the most practical path so the reform can be carried out in time for the next Lok Sabha polls.
If advanced, this could mark one of the most significant structural changes in Indian electoral politics. It would also test the government’s ability to balance constitutional process, political consensus, and implementation deadlines while keeping the plan on track for 2029.
