In a major development, the Meghalaya government has partnered with Starlink India to pilot satellite-based internet services in its remote hill regions an area where traditional telecom infrastructure faces significant challenges due to the terrain. The initiative aims to boost connectivity for essential sectors like education, healthcare, and disaster management. If successful, this pilot could pave the way for nationwide expansion, supporting India’s push for universal digital inclusion and resilient broadband access in hard-to-reach areas.
