NEET 2026 Paper Leak: Accountability Must Precede Politics
The NEET 2026 paper leak by NTA has caused deep distress among students and damaged trust in India’s examination system.Calls for the Education Minister’s resignation overlooks a crucial fact: under the NTA Act, 2017, the Ministry has no role in day-to-day operations. NTA was made autonomous by present government precisely to prevent political interference.
The core issue is operational and integrity of officials. Did NTA officials follow well defined safeguards meant to block outsider access to question papers? After the 2024 leak, a respected DG was appointed by the government to streamline functioning of NTA. But after his March 2026 retirement, additional charge went to the Director, NVS, during the most sensitive phase of NEET . The present DG joined only in April 2026 – too late to control any confidential processes.
Based on media reports it is seen several outside culprits are arrested, the real institutional puzzle still remains:
1. Were NEET SOPs, Experts, internal teams, question papers , printing roadmaps laid down by previous DG altered on any intelligence input during this transition period?
2. Were any NTA officials and Experts linked to the 2024 NEET breach involved again in NEET 2026?Because only a tainted official without basic common sense can think of handing over entire question paper to different language experts for translations that too without secured personal monitoring.
Strong action on protocol violations by officials , not political blame, will restore trust. Merit must decide futures, not malpractice.
A VISITOR.
