Karnataka govt led by DKS launches Prajaseva department

Karnataka government headed by Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has created a new department called Prajaseva (Public Service) to redress public grievances. The department will be headed by the Chief Minister Shivakumar while a minister will be assigned as in-charge, said the CM while talking to reporters in Bengaluru before the cabinet meeting. The department will have a team of officers who will forward complaints and grievances to the concerned ministers, minister in-charge of the district and concerned departments and officers. The CM said a mechanism is being worked out to ensure that the applications/complaints are processed.

Chief Minister Shivakumar also announced that the govt will undertake a Prajaseva Abhiyana (Public Service Campaign) across the state where all ministers in-charge of respective districts will have to visit two assembly constituencies on the first and third Saturdays every month. The aim is to reach out to the common man rather than letting them come to Bengaluru with their complaints, he said.
