Andhra Pradesh wins awards at TAAI convention
Andhra Pradesh has received two tourism awards at the 69th Indian Travel Congress organised by the Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) in Kolkata. The state received the “Award of Merit – Outstanding Tourism State of India” and the “Excellence in Tourism Leadership Award”.
Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh received the leadership award in recognition of initiatives to strengthen the state’s tourism sector. These included policy reforms, destination branding and infrastructure development aimed at attracting more visitors and investment.
The recognition comes amid the state government’s efforts to expand tourism through its 2024–29 tourism policy, which envisages developing seven major tourism hubs and more than 25 thematic circuits. The state is promoting spiritual, coastal and eco-tourism destinations to attract domestic and international visitors.
