Sources indicate that the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) is scheduled to meet this morning, countering ongoing speculation about possible delays. The meeting, described as a short but significant session, is expected to address key proposals related to defence procurements and project clearances. Officials familiar with the matter said the agenda has been streamlined to ensure swift decision-making ahead of the year-end review process. The development comes amid heightened discussions within the defence establishment about pending acquisitions, as the ministry seeks to maintain momentum on strategic modernisation initiatives despite earlier reports hinting at postponement.
Congress vs Congress on the Aravalli issue?

Sachin Pilot’s aggressive front-foot role on the Aravalli mining issue is reopening fault lines within the Rajasthan Congress, with Ashok Gehlot choosing a more cautious, low-key posture given his past record in office. This emerging contrast is feeding a fresh round of whispers about factional positioning and legacy-protection inside the party. Pilot’s decision to physically lead youth-backed “Save Aravalli” marches and attack both state and central governments allows him to project a clean environmental and anti-mining image, especially among urban and student constituencies. Gehlot, who is simultaneously targeting the BJP on data and legal process but carries baggage of earlier mining and tiger-habitat controversies under his own tenure, is wary of appearing hypocritical, and therefore avoids the street-politics optics that Pilot is embracing. Within the Congress ecosystem, this is being read as a calibrated tussle over moral high ground and future leadership narrative rather than an open confrontation, but the contrast on Aravalli is sharp enough to deepen existing factional narratives in Rajasthan.

In a landmark step toward redefining the future of agricultural innovation, ANNAM.AI of IIT Ropar and the University of Western Sydney (UWS) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and work plan to establish a Joint Center of Excellence in Noida. The MoU was formalized in the presence of the Education Minister of Australia Jason Clare and Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director, IIT Ropar, marking a major milestone in India–Australia scientific collaboration. The center will focus on AI‑driven agriculture, automation, climate‑resilient farming, and next‑generation agri‑supply chains, combining the strengths of two globally respected institutions. The collaboration brings together the deep agri‑tech expertise of IIT Ropar and the globally recognized research ecosystem of the University of Western Sydney. IIT Ropar’s ANNAM.AI initiative has emerged as a national leader in AI‑enabled soil intelligence, precision agriculture, and farmer‑centric digital platforms, while UWS is internationally known for its Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment, one of the world’s top centers for plant‑soil‑climate interaction research. Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director of IIT Ropar, said: “This partnership is not just an MoU - it is a commitment to building the world’s most advanced agricultural intelligence ecosystem. Together, we will empower Indian farmers with tools that are accurate, affordable, and accessible.” The Australian Education Minister Jason Clare added that “India and Australia share a common vision for sustainable agriculture. This joint center will accelerate innovation, strengthen academic ties, and create real‑world impact for millions of farmers.” From the University of Western Sydney, the President remarked: “UWS has long been at the forefront of environmental and agricultural sciences. Partnering with IIT Ropar allows us to combine our global research strengths with India’s scale and diversity. This center will become a model for how nations can collaborate to secure the future of food.” The Joint Center of Excellence will serve as a hub for cutting‑edge agricultural research, industry partnerships, and farmer‑focused technology deployment. Key focus areas include: AI‑powered soil and crop diagnostics; Automation and robotics for farm operations; Climate‑adaptive farming models; Digital twins for agriculture; Sustainable water and nutrient management; Next‑generation agri‑supply chain analytics. The center will also host joint PhD programs, faculty exchanges, and industry‑supported innovation challenges. By combining IIT Ropar’s engineering and AI leadership with UWS’s environmental and agricultural science strengths, the center will: Enable data‑driven decision‑making for farmers; Support precision agriculture at scale; Strengthen food security through predictive analytics; Create new agri‑tech startups and rural innovation clusters. Train the next generation of AI‑enabled agricultural professionals. The Noida location positions the center close to major industry partners, government agencies, and innovation ecosystems, ensuring rapid translation of research into field‑ready solutions. The MoU signed on December 09 symbolizes a shared commitment to shaping the future of global agriculture. With climate change, soil degradation, and food security emerging as critical global challenges, the partnership between ANNAM.AI and UWS is poised to deliver solutions that are technologically advanced and socially transformative. Prof. Pushpendra P. Singh, the Project Director of ANNAM.AI at IIT Ropar emphasized the transformative potential of the partnership and said, “Agriculture today demands precision, prediction, and personalization. This collaboration is about impact at scale. When science meets the soil, farmers win - and nations prosper.”

No reply about Charitable Trust by the public authority
The Appellant filed an online RTI application dated 28.12.2023 seeking the information about Chiranjeev Charitable Trust which ran three schools. He asked how he was terminated without any show cause notice after 17 years of service. He sought for the permission letter for name change of the society from the Registrar office and other related information. The CIC observed that as per available record file, no reply was given to the Appellant at the initial stage by the answering Respondent and admonished him for the same. However, upon receipt of the hearing notice from the CIC, a suitable and pointwise reply has been given to the Appellant vide letter dated 06.10.2025, but, a copy of the same was not received by the Appellant. Accordingly, the CIC directed the Respondent to send a copy to the appellant along with relevant annexures, through speed-post as well as through email. Further, the CIC cautioned the Respondent Public Authority to act strictly within the precincts of the RTI Act by observing the timelines scrupulously and punctually, in future.
Comments
The simple act of replying to the RTI applicant can prevent the avoidable embarrassment of appearing before the CIC and wastage of time.
