MTDC to host unique mining tourism experience on May 11 & 18 (UPDATED)

The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC), in collaboration with Western Coalfields Limited (WCL), is set to organize a distinctive mining tourism tour on May 11 and 18. The initiative is conceptualized under the leadership of MTDC Mumbai’s Managing Director, Manoj Kumar Suryawanshi. This one-of-a-kind experience will take visitors deep into a functioning coal mine located in the mineral-rich Saoner taluka near the Kolar River, just outside Nagpur. The underground mine, situated approximately 200 to 300 meters below the surface, offers a rare opportunity for tourists to witness the challenging and fascinating world of coal mining from up close. Scheduled on the second and third Sundays of every month, the tour is open to groups of a minimum of five and a maximum of fifteen participants at a time. Registration is available on a first-come, first-served basis, and participants must be at least 18 years of age. The journey begins at the MTDC office in Civil Lines, Nagpur, from where visitors will be transported to the Saoner coal mine and brought back after the tour. Alongside the underground mine visit, tourists will also get to explore the beautifully developed Eco Park by WCL, which features swings, a sea-shower watchtower, a toy train, a weight-based fountain, a model mine, operational machinery, and a solar energy exhibit. For bookings and further information, interested individuals may contact Sunil Yetalkar (Mob. 9021515519), Mrs Vaishali Bhandarkar (Mob. 9503966877), or Mrs. Pooja Kamble (Mob. 8055759232).
