NLC India Limited (NLCIL) observed the World Environment Day 2025 on June 5, 25, by organizing a series of environmental awareness activities through its Corporate Environment Cell, highlighting its commitment to sustainability and community engagement. The “World Environment Day” is celebrated every year on June 5 all over the world. The theme set for World Environment Day 2025 is “Beat Plastic Pollution.” At NLCIL, a grand event was organized at the “Golden Jubilee Park” which was graced by Samir Swarup, Director (Human Resources), M Venkatachalam, Director (Power), Appakannu Govindarajan, IPoS, Chief Vigilance Officer, NLCIL, along with senior officials, representatives of recognized Trade Unions, OBC Association, SC/ST & ST Welfare Federations, employees and members of the public. The event began with a spirited Walkathon, symbolizing collective responsibility towards environmental protection. The walkathon saw enthusiastic participation from senior officials, Trade union representatives, employees and members of the public, reinforcing the message of unity for a cleaner and greener future. A vibrant “Waste to Eco-Friendly” Exhibition showcasing innovative models and concepts demonstrating how waste materials can be transformed into useful and environment-friendly products was inaugurated by Samir Swarup, Director (HR). The exhibition attracted significant attention from visitors. A special initiative included the distribution of medicinal plants, promoting household-level green practices and awareness on traditional herbal medicine. Additionally, an Environmental Awareness Display Vehicle was flagged off by dignitaries to spread environmental messages across surrounding communities and towns, extending the impact of World Environment Day beyond the venue. The dignitaries, in their addresses, emphasized the importance of individual and collective action in tackling environmental challenges and called upon everyone to make sustainable choices in daily life to combat issues such as plastic pollution and climate change. It was ensured that the theme “Beating Plastic Pollution”, was prominently showcased throughout the event. The Executive Director, Corporate Environment Cell, thanked all Departments of NLCIL, Volunteers and the public for their wholehearted support in making the event a grand success. On this World Environment Day, NLC India Ltd remains steadfast in its environmental stewardship and continues to integrate sustainability into its operations, community initiatives, and corporate culture.
