Grand launch of ‘Indian Himalayan Motorcycle Expedition 2025 (I-HiMEx-2.0)’ by Indian Army & UTD (UPDATED)

The Indian Army, in collaboration with the Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board officially flagged off the prestigious “Indian Himalayan Motorcycle Expedition 2025 (I-HiMEx-2.0)” from Dehradun today. This esteemed motorcycle expedition stands as a symbol of military skill, team spirit, and environmental awareness amidst the Himalayan heights of Uttarakhand. The grand inauguration witnessed the gracious presence of senior officials from the Indian Army and Tourism Department:  Lt. Gen. Anindya Sengupta, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM – GOC-in-C, Central Command.  Lt. Gen. D. G. Mishra, AVSM – GOC, North Bengal Area.  Maj. Gen MPS Gill, VSM – Dy GOC, Uttarakhand Sub Area, Dehradun. Brig. M.S. Dhillon, VSM – Commander, 9 (I) Mountain Brigade Group. Col. Mausam Kumar – Commanding Officer, 288 Medium Regiment. Lt. Cdr. Deepak Khanduri – Director (Infrastructure), Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council. The primary objective of this expedition is to promote tourism in the Vibrant Villages of border regions and attract a wider audience to Uttarakhand’s natural and adventurous landscapes. While flagging off the event, senior Army officials stated that such initiatives not only highlight the scenic beauty of the region but also boost adventure sports and tourism activities. A total of 22 riders are participating in this expedition, including 10 from the Indian Army and 12 from the Royal Enfield Community. The riders will traverse challenging and remote terrains of Garhwal, offering a new perspective on the region’s culture, geography, and tourism potential. The thrilling journey will cover approximately 2,000 kilometers through rugged mountainous terrain, passing through adventure-rich destinations like Dehradun, Joshimath, Mana, Rimkhim, Harsil, and culminate in Roorkee. Army officials expressed confidence that this expedition will open new avenues for tourism in the Garhwal region and bring employment and development opportunities for the local communities. The expedition not only showcases the indomitable spirit, team ethos, and commitment to the nation of the Indian Army but also highlights Uttarakhand's immense potential for adventure and high-altitude tourism. The Uttarakhand Tourism Department sees such initiatives as a significant step toward promoting adventure tourism in the state.
