POWERGRID celebrates its 36th Raising Day (UPDATED)

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID), a Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise under the Ministry of Power, celebrated its 36th Raising Day at Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, New Delhi. Shripad Naik, Union Minister of State for Power, New & Renewable Energy graced the occasion along with Shri Ghanshyam Prasad, Chairperson, Central Electricity Authority (CEA). Dr R K Tyagi, CMD, along with Shri G. Ravisankar, Director (Finance), Dr. Yatindra Dwivedi, Director (Personnel), Shri Naveen Srivastava, Director (Operations), and Shri Vamsi Rama Mohan Burra, Director (Projects), POWERGRID, led the celebrations held across POWERGRID. Employees and their families from over 300 locations spread across the nation, joined the festivities. Addressing the gathering, Hon'ble Union Minister lauded POWERGRID's exemplary journey since its inception in 1989. He appreciated the organization's transformation into a global leader in power transmission, and commended POWERGRID's leadership in enabling energy transition, grid modernisation, technological innovation and renewable integration. As on 15th October 2025, POWERGRID has commissioned and is operating 287 substations, and more than 1,80,864 circuit kilometres of transmission lines, and 5,81,831 MVA of transformation capacity. With the adoption of latest technological tools and techniques, enhanced use of automation and digital solutions, POWERGRID has been able to maintain average transmission system availability of 99.83%.
