Over 8,600 complaints received against sitting judges in last 10 years

More than 8,600 complaints have been received against sitting judges by the office of the Chief Justice of India (CJI) over the last ten years, the government has informed the Lok Sabha. As per data provided by the Supreme Court to the Law Ministry, the office of the CJI received 729 complaints in 2016, 682 in 2017, 717 in 2018, 1,037 in 2019, 518 in 2020, 686 in 2021, 1,012 in 2022, 977 in 2023, 1,170 in 2024 and 1,102 in 2025. The government, however, did not specify the action taken on these complaints.
