HURL facility inaugurated in Gorakhpur
Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Limited (HURL) has taken a significant step towards promoting soil health, balanced fertilisation and scientific farming with the inauguration of soil testing facilities at nine locations across Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
The facility at Dandwapar, Gorakhpur, was inaugurated by Dr. Siba Prasad Mohanty, MD, HURL, in the presence of MLA, Chillupar, Rajesh Tripathi, along with other guests, officials and members of the farming community. Farmers and stakeholders from all nine locations joined the programme virtually.
The newly established facilities are aimed at enabling farmers to gain a better understanding of the nutrient status of their soil and make informed decisions regarding fertiliser application. By supporting soil-based and balanced nutrient management, the initiative seeks to promote efficient use of agricultural inputs, improved soil health and sustainable crop productivity.
Speaking on the occasion, HURL MD emphasised the importance of understanding the soil before deciding what and how much to apply. Soil testing can help farmers identify nutrient deficiencies or excesses and adopt more appropriate fertiliser practices based on the specific needs of their soil and crops.
The initiative reflects HURL’s broader commitment to farmer-centric agricultural development, extending its role beyond fertiliser availability to promoting awareness, scientific nutrient management and long-term soil health. With soil testing services being made accessible at multiple locations, the initiative is expected to help farmers make more informed input decisions while contributing towards healthier soils, efficient cultivation practices and sustainable agricultural productivity.
