J&K forces make biggest gains in 2026; arrest 4,000 in anti-terror crackdown
Security forces in Jammu and Kashmir achieved major operational breakthroughs between April and September 2026, eliminating top Lashkar-e-Taiba commander Hashim Moosa, alias Fauji Musa, in central Kashmir’s Budgam district. Moosa was killed during targeted joint operations alongside four other high-profile terrorists in September, including LeT operative Yasir and Jaish-e-Mohammed operatives Saddam and Mustafa.
This anti-terror surge was accompanied by an aggressive six-month crackdown on regional narco-terror networks. J&K Police registered 3,257 cases, arrested nearly 4,000 individuals, and attached 288 properties valued at over ₹178 crore nationwide. Srinagar Police alone seized assets worth ₹120 crore. Security forces and authorities reiterated their commitment to systematically dismantling the terror ecosystem.
